For Parents - Be Encouraged!
God has certainly called us on quite an adventure. Home Schooling is a wonderful privilege, as well as a daunting challenge. But take heart, and be encouraged, since God has called us, He will equip us. We strive with His power, which works in us mightily (Col. 1:29).
We are part of an amazing heritage of Christian education in our nation. "America was founded by people of the Word, Christian men and women armed with truth, trained to govern themselves privately and publicly, and with a sense of domestic and civil duty " (Youmans) . We have the unique opportunity to be a part of God's restoring Christian character and scholarship in our nation.
I believe that God is changing this nation through a remnant, that remnant is you and me. Just as God used Gideon with a small remnant "lest Israel claim glory for itself," God will use those who have been called to Home School. It is a job much too big for us. It is a job we are only able to do as we lean on Him, and cry out to Him. As we do, He will show us great and mighty things (Jeremiah 33:3).
God will be able to use our children in a unique way, in a mighty way, because this is His work, and because we have trusted Him in our obedience. Be encouraged; as we turn to Jesus Christ, the Living Word, The Master Teacher, the only Foundation for all sound knowledge and learning, He will provide much fruit. God Bless you in this new school year.

excerpt from "Tending Your Garden", by Denise Sproul
'We all laugh when someone "jokingly" asks, "Do you work, or do you stay at home?" We sometimes shrug it off, thinking it's natural for someone to wonder what our work is, and we overlook the fact that they might actually think it's weird not to have a "real job." The fact that many of us have to uncomfortably assert ourselves by saying, "Yes, I work; and yes, I stay at home," shows that many people think that each is mutually exclusive of the other. We should never speak in the way ("work" or "home"-i.e. lazy couch potato) and we should always kindly correct it. If a man asks you this question, you might politely counter with, "Do you work, or do you raise children?"
